Launched in 2014 by Jodi Goodfellow, Startup Fashion Week™ has provided countless opportunities for emerging models, entrepreneurs, designers and creative media. We are cultivating Canada’s most connected and empowered fashion community by programming educational events and showcase opportunities. Our events have attracted guests, participants and partnerships from across Canada and we have proudly also attracted interest from a global audience as well. SFW Toronto™ typically hosts an exclusive SFW Preview Party™ in August followed by model castings and the annual week of events in October which include but are not limited to a SFW Media Launch™ / Opening Party, SFW Business of Fashion Conference™, SFW Future of Fashion Forum™, SFW Fashion Career Forum™, SFW Eco Fashion Forum™ and official SFW Runway Show™.
Be sure to connect with us on social media and through our email newsletter to stay informed.

We are seeking Canada’s most promising apparel and accessory designers. We will also review applicants from outside of Canada as well. We generally select runway participants for our October event in June, however we sometimes offer additional opportunities at our Preview Party. Participating in a fashion week is a a big commitment, which requires a lot of time, planning, finances and resources so please take the application process seriously and apply if you are fully prepared to accept an opportunity if one is offered.
Startup Fashion Week™ welcomes Photographers, Videographers, Bloggers, Podcasts and Print Media to apply for media accreditation to attend our events. Please note that this process allows us to vet through applicants to ensure credibility of those who will in fact provide coverage since we have a limited number of media passes to distribute for each event. This system also helps us understand who needs access to the media pit vs. seats for the runway show, which is a huge logistical part of the production.
Regardless if you have covered our events in the past, we ask that you go through the process each year so that we know what events you are interested in covering etc. We appreciate your time and interest in Startup Fashion Week™.
We have proudly supported many emerging Designers and Fashion-Tech Startups.
Model castings for our SFW Runway Show™ and SFW Preview Party™ typically take place in August. In some cases we may open a second casting during fittings in October. Connect with us on social media or email to be informed to register for auditions.
SFW models learn what it takes to be part of a professional runway show and have access to professional images afterwards
SFW models will have access to meet hair stylists, MUA’s photographers, designers and other industry professionals.
Over the years we have worked with many professional photographers who have repeatedly committed their time and talent to the SFW community. These individuals often go above and beyond with photo shoots and event coverage; they truly provide an authentic fashion week experience. We are so grateful for their contributions and highly recommend their creative services.
